Integrating podcast into WP blog

Hello!

This my first post here.

I find it interesting that that there’s not a lot out there on how to integrate a podcast into WP from the perspective of the RSS feed, particularly now that Google is scraping podcast feeds.

I’ve had a self-hosted Wordpress blog for three years, with two feeds coming from the homepage, RSS content, and RSS comments. Last month I launched a podcast, hosted by Pippa which provides a website under the Pippa domain.

I want to move the feed to my blog site for ownership, branding and traffic. However, I don’t know where to put the feed. According to Google, a podcast feed should be on a website’s homepage, and there should only be one rel alternate tag on said page. ( https://developers.google.com/search/reference/podcast/homepage-requirements ).

Can another page on my Wordpress blog function as the podcast homepage? Or should I put the podcast feed on the homepage, and move the blog content feed to another page? Would a subdomain be an idea?

Many thanks.

Have you heard of Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin for WordPress? https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting/

It seems to be the go-to solution for podcasting and WordPress.

One of the features is:

Run multiple podcasts from the same site – each with their own, unique RSS feed

This may solve that issue you’re having with multiple feeds with rel=“alternate”?

I’m not 100% sure but I’m guessing any page (not necessarily the homepage of your entire website) can serve as a “Podcast Homepage” (think of all the podcast publishers that have multiple podcasts under a single brand) and that page would be the one that would have a single feed link on it.
