Seen any good minimalist themes lately?

Nice finds, @qriouslad!

I’m a fan of pretty much anything Anders Noren makes. Using one of this themes on a blog of mine now.

Anders is definitely hitting all the right notes. Here’s an interview with him at WP Tavern:

I love his independent spirit.

I must admit I like the name (grin) … I actually considered it before I finally decided on Opus Primus (my current favorite “minimalist” theme).

NB: The next release (with better typography and more mobile friendly) is in alpha testing if anyone is interested.

Every theme Norén made looks solid. I’m a fellow fan too

XD I have to admit I reconsider the name opus when I found about your theme. After concluding that it’s quite different, I went with the name

I’m working on a new minimal theme for UpThemes but it’s not yet been released. Happy to provide folks with a download link to help beta test it. It’s called Largo and you can see the demo here: http://demos.upthemes.com/largo/

Make from Themefoundry, great theme!

Just about anything from Anders Noren has been minimalist as of late. Looking good too.

How about Swiss? https://cr3ativ.com/cr3ativportfolio/swiss-wordpress-theme

I’ve always been a sucker for the Constructivist, Swiss, and Bauhaus design styles. As soon as I saw this I had to have it.

I think the author may be a member here?

(Leland Fiegel) #31

I’m guessing this is @Cr3ativ.

(Jeff C) #32

Yep, that would be Jonathan Atkinson. Hes got a great eye for design and style as well.

(Jonathan Atkinson) #33

Thanks for the mention guys. Yes, I’ve got a few minimalist themes on the main Cr3ativ.com site you may want to take a look at. Appreciate the mention very much!

Found “So Simple” just now… quite extreme.

A minimalist theme for a blog-type site is one thing, but if you’re looking for a truly minimalist theme for, say, a one-page design with no blog (or ecommerce/forum/etc functionality), for example, it often starts to beg the question ‘should you even be using WordPress?’… in my opinion, truly minimalist websites are often better served by good ol’ fashion lightning-fast static code… i.e. little more than a great design backed up by html/css and a little javascript here and there – and not with WP at all.

One of the more creative themes I’ve seen lately: http://wptavern.com/nulis-a-free-minimalist-wordpress-theme-with-a-unique-twist

Not sure if this can be called ‘‘minimalist’’ but I just found it and like it  It load just one css file, tested it and its really superspeedy. Omega

Tested tens of themes and this one also with Hellish Simplicity did the best in performance.

One my simple site with Omega just loads about 200ms without cache, thats amazing.

Both free.
