How to Add a Facebook Messenger Chat Button to WordPress

Over the years, I’ve watched countless small business owners lose potential customers because of slow email responses.

Someone on their website has a quick question about a product. They fill out a contact form. Then they wait. And wait.

By the time there’s a response from the support team, the customer has already moved on to a competitor.

That’s why adding a chat button for Facebook Messenger has been a game changer for a lot of businesses.

So many of your customers are already using Messenger daily. It’s familiar. It’s instant. And most importantly, they can reach you the same way they chat with friends and family.

In this guide, I’ll show you exactly how to add a Facebook Messenger chat button to your WordPress site.

You’ll be up and running in about 5 minutes, without touching a single line of code.

Why Adding a Messenger Chat Button Helps

By adding a handy button that lets people chat with you on Messenger, you’ll have a much easier time connecting with visitors.

Instead of waiting for an email response, they can send you a quick message and get help right away.

I’ve found that when businesses make it this easy to communicate, visitors are far more likely to go through with their purchase.

It’s because you can address all their potential doubts and let them know exactly what your products have to offer.

Here’s why a Facebook Messenger chat button works so well:

  • Visitors can ask quick questions and get immediate responses, helping them make confident buying decisions without leaving your site.
  • When people see a familiar chat option, they feel more comfortable reaching out, which builds trust and strengthens your customer relationships.
  • Each conversation through Messenger creates a direct connection to your Facebook business page, naturally expanding your social following.
  • Your customers already use Messenger daily to chat with friends and family, so reaching your support team feels natural and comfortable.
  • Once someone messages you, you can easily follow updates, special offers, and important news directly through Messenger.

The convenience factor is huge. People don’t have to fill out long contact forms or wait for email replies. They just click the button and start chatting, exactly like they would with a friend.

Now you need to decide where you want the chat button to appear on your site.

To get started, WPChat gives you 2 ways of setting up your visibility:

  • Display only on specific pages: Manually pick the parts of your site to show the chat button.

Like with the other option, click on Next to continue.
